i got a panasonic model LZ7 this spring. ive taken about 650-700 shots, largely of hummingbirds. i like the high quality of the camera and the price was 175, on sale. id have to advocate it , its straightforward to use, and its rapidly adequate to get some actually nice hummingbird action shots. O, and the colour is great, very good in the direct sun.
