Are small digital cameras being discontinued?

December 23rd, 2011 by admin

Query by chas f: Are little digital cameras currently being discontinued?
I just noticed an report a quick time ago about digital cameras on the way out. Now can’t find the write-up?????????? May possibly contact them “compact” cameras.
I am referring to these cameras that offer from maybe $ 75 to $ 175. Small compact cameras that the basic public utilizes.

Very best solution:

they are on their way out the merchants and off the shelves for the holidays into present boxes and into stockings for stuffing….if folks are acquiring them, and they are, then they will retain selling them

No, I read that article too. It was just crap. Small compact cameras will never be discontinued.

Individual brands and models come and go, but the quality and features just keep getting better and new models are being released daily…DAILY.

They are certainly not going away any time soon.

Probably not. They represent about 75% of all the digital cameras sold and represent their highest profit margin

The article was about point and shoot cameras… But I don’t buy into that… I will always have my camera (it is always in my purse ready to go). I even have a case for it to go underwater for when I am Ab Diving, or scuba diving… I love taking pictures and my iphone may be convenient, but the images are not the best. So I may take a picture to send a quick email, but anything that I really want to capture I will use my point and shoot or my DSLR.

I have attached the news article below:

In Britain shops and catalogues are full of compact digicams in the range of £50 to several hundreds (say $ 70 upwards). It would seem unlikely that manufacturers and retailers would want to lose part of the market.

They are gradually being replaced by camera phones. Here’s the article:

If anyone had actually read the article, they would have found out that the cameras in cell phones were somuch better that they were getting into the market of the point and shoots. Ain’t no one gonna get the cell phone away from Aunt Alice’s purse, that market is huge
